Dune: Part 2 – More Than Seven Minutes of Screen Time For Zendaya

15

In the second movie of this franchise, Zendaya plays Fremen warrior Chani for over seven minutes – an unprecedented opportunity in any sci-fi movie! Frank Herbert wrote his classic sci-fi novel, and this second half adaptation will adapt it.

Denis Villeneuve returns as director with an abundance of talent at his disposal – not only the core cast from his first film (Clamet and Bardem) are back, but he’s also brought Lea Seydoux from Arrival fame, Austin Butler as the villainous Baron Harkonnen, and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV from Arrival fame to this sequel.

Timothee Chalamet

Dune 2 will adapt the second half of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic. Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya return in their roles; Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin join as new cast members, along with Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, and Charlotte Rampling as returning actors, while Souheila Yacoub and Florence Pugh join with new roles.

Before the film’s debut, Vanity Fair released several stunning first-look photos featuring its cast. One shot features a tender moment between Chalamet and Jessica; another shows him wearing a golden mask as he travels towards Arrakis.

Legendary and Warner Bros recently granted Dune: The Sisterhood an outright straight-to-series order. However, Diane Ademu-John and Shirley Henderson have since parted ways due to an internal creative reshuffle. Olivia Williams will take over Henderson’s role, with Jodhi May taking Indira Varma’s place as Natalya; production will resume despite ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, with an estimated release date set for 2023.

Zendaya

Zendaya is an American actress, singer, and fashion designer. She first rose to prominence through the Disney series K.C. Undercover before going on to appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Princess and the Frog, and The Greatest Showman. More recently, in 2019, Zendaya made headlines as Rue in HBO’s Euphoria; its graphic depictions of drug use among teenagers earned critical acclaim and gained her critical praise as well. Zendaya has launched her clothing line Daya as well as collaborated on collections with Tommy Hilfiger – both are making headlines and winning critical acclaim among critics alike!

Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson will reprise their roles, with Josh Brolin portraying Gurney Halleck and Stephen McKinley Henderson Thufir Hawat. Javier Bardem and Stellan Skarsgard also make returns, alongside Dave Bautista and Charlotte Rampling; Zendaya will have more screen time as Chani than in Part One; other cast members include Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV.

Javier Bardem

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation succeeded in keeping audiences engaged despite its heavy focus on House Atreides’ destruction, but if its sequel is any indicator, we may be in for even more action-packed entertainment!

Villeneuve and cast members Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya revealed at CinemaCon this week that the sequel would pick up exactly where its predecessor left off, with Paul Atreides uniting Chani and the Fremen people of Arrakis on his mission for revenge against those responsible for destroying his family.

Bardem, who played Stilgar in the original movie, is back as part of an ensemble cast that also includes Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica Atreides), Stellan Skarsgard (Baron Vladimir Harkonnen), Dave Bautista (Glossu Rabban Harkonnen), Charlotte Rampling (Reverend Mother Mohiam) and Stephen McKinley Henderson (Thufir Hawat). Additionally, Florence Pugh will join as Princess Irulan Corrino while Austin Butler takes up Feyd Rautha’s role.

The sequel to Jurassic World will hit theaters on November 3, 2023 – watch below for its trailer!

Stellan Skarsgard

Legendary and Warner Bros appear committed to keeping the excitement going in a Dune sequel, with plans underway for Paul and Lady Jessica to journey to Fremen city of Arrakis.

Chalamet, Bardem, and Zendaya will return as stars of the second film alongside returning actors like Rebecca Ferguson and Dave Bautista; additionally, newcomers Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan and Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen from Paul’s father’s murdering family are set to make appearances as well.

Denis Villeneuve promised CinemaCon that his all-IMAX sequel would surpass even its predecessor in scale and quality, boasting that this sci-fi thriller’s main course consists of massive sets designed to impress.

Reuniting so many familiar faces was undoubtedly an intelligent move by Villeneuve, who seems determined to create another blockbuster. He has already shown himself adept at producing moody yet expansive science-fiction dramas while simultaneously making an argument that practical effects still outshone green screens when it came to creating action sequences and worlds that took audiences by surprise.

Dave Bautista

Dune: Part 2 will feature an incredible cast and crew when it hits theaters later this year. Hans Zimmer will return as composer, while celebrated cinematographer Greig Fraser (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) returns for another cinematic adventure. Costume designer Jacqueline West will also make her return.

Timothee Chalamet will reprise his role of Paul Atreides while Zendaya reprises her Fremen role of Chani. Stellan Skarsgard returns as Baron Harkonnen while Javier Bardem plays the Bene Gesserit leader with increased involvement, and Christopher Walken reprises his role of Emperor Shaddam IV.

Denis Villeneuve of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 fame is back to direct its sequel. Initially scheduled to hit theaters this November but has now been delayed due to ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, it is set for a March release instead – hopefully living up to expectations following its predecessor’s unprecedented success!

Lea Seydoux

Lea Seydoux exudes confidence with her charming smirk that says, “I got this.” After years of making waves in European cinema, this French actress is making waves in blockbusters as an iconic European actress – she can play everything from a seductive slave in David Cronenberg’s body horror romances to a buttoned prison guard in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch to an abstract artist’s muse in One Fine Morning (an upcoming crime drama).

Blue Is the Warmest Color made her a household name in 2013, earning her and co-star Adele Exarchopoulos both Palme d’Or awards from Cannes Film Festival jury. However, director Abdellatif Kechiche soon faced backlash due to his controversial filmmaking techniques; shooting an explicitly sexual love story using nude actors took days of shooting time before the completion of filming was complete.

Seydoux wasn’t shy in criticizing Kechiche and the filmmaking process during their collaboration on Crimes of the Future; this led to an estrangement between them. Still, Seydoux returned for director Kechiche’s return to body horror with Crimes of the Future, bringing all her charm and intelligence that made her such an international star to this role.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh stands out as a fantastic actress currently working in Hollywood. Her ability to embody each character she plays speaks volumes of her acting skill; from period dramas, horror flicks, and Marvel action flicks, she easily holds her own alongside more established actors she stars alongside.

English actress Anne-Marie Duff made her film debut in 2014’s The Falling. Since then, however, she has become best-known for her performances as medieval bride Lady Macbeth (2016) and Scottish queen The Outlaw King (2018) – two roles that won critical acclaim and widespread fan appreciation from audiences worldwide. Additionally, British films and miniseries such as The Little Drummer Girl have received much credit due to her efforts.

In 2019, she took on several roles that displayed her versatility, from professional wrestler Paige in Fighting with My Family to Amy March in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. The following year, she appeared as the lead character in Don’t Worry Darling by Olivia Wilde, as well as Black Widow and the TV miniseries A Good Woman by Marvel. Christopher Nolan will direct a biopic entitled Oppenheimer where Jean Tatlock plays her leading role – she portrays Jean Tatlock, J. Robert Oppenheimer’s love interest from Little Women adaptation by Greta Gerwig as Amy March.

Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken will join Christopher Nolan and Naomi Watts as one of the newcomers to Denis Villeneuve’s award-winning adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel Dune 2. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walken will portray Emperor Shaddam IV, Paul Atreides’ father, who serves as an antagonist against House Harkonnen.

Florence Pugh will play Princess Irulan, daughter of Emperor Ashoka, who must marry Paul under political pressure from Ashoka for political reasons. Elvis’ Austin Butler will appear as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen – Baron Harkonnen’s nephew.

In Part 2, Paul Atreides embarks on his legendary journey to unite Chani and the Fremen against those responsible for the destruction of his family, seeking justice from conspirators who had plans for revenge against them. All the surviving principal actors from Part 1 should appear, including Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem (as Stilgar), Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen; Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck; Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban Harkonnen; Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiam; Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiam; Stephen McKinley Henderson will all return.

Villeneuve will return as director, writer, and producer for this sequel based on a screenplay co-written with Jon Spaihts. The first movie received widespread critical acclaim and won six Academy Awards – including Best Picture!
