Springfield Airport commemorated its 75th Anniversary Wednesday by looking forward, with US Sen. Dick Durbin among those speaking about its future.

Airport officials are celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a year-long celebration that includes events such as an aviation-themed kids camp with Kidzeum at Southwind Park and a public open house held by Lincoln Land Community College in August. Also featured was Senator Dick Durbin’s runway dedication ceremony, with a public open house held during August and a public open house hosted in August by Executive Director Mark Hanna and his staff at Southwind Airport.
